When and where was Speedling founded?
Speedling was founded in 1968 in Sun City, Florida, with the invention of Speedling Planter Flats. The planter flats used inverted pyramid technology that produced “speedy seedlings” – and with that Speedling was born.

What is a plant plug?
A plant plug is a young plant grown specifically to be transplanted and grown to full size. Speedling produces vegetable transplants primarily sold to commercial farmers and ornamental transplants sold to ornamental retailers and retail suppliers.

Where are you located?
Speedling has nurseries across the U.S. but our corporate headquarters is in Sun City, Florida, just south of Tampa. For more information about each of our specific locations visit our locations page.

Can I stop by and drop off my resume?

Vegetable

How do I place an order?
Contact one of our knowledgeable sales reps to plan your season. They’ll work with you to ensure we’re supplying the plants you want, at the specifications you ask for, when you need them. What are the main crops you produce? Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Cantaloupe, Cauliflower, Celery, Cucumber , Eggplant, Fennel, Kale, Lettuce, Onions, Peppers, Tobacco, Fresh Market Tomatoes, Processed Tomatoes, Watermelon.

Do you have any growing programs?
We offer a block cabbage program for our 392 Bravo cabbage. We also have a growing program for watermelon, contact your local sales representative for more information on how these programs will fit your needs. Find there contact information on our Vegetable Page.

Do you hot water treat your seed?
We hot water treat most of the Brassica family seed. This includes but is not limited to cabbage, broccoli, collards, cauliflower, mustard and turnips.

Does Speedling buy seed or do I need to purchase my own?
One of our Speedling customer service representatives can assist you in purchasing your desired seed that is right for your operation. Or if you would prefer, you can work with your desired seed company to ship seed directly to our greenhouses. Please ask one of our sales representatives for more information.

How do you store and keep my seed? We have strict SOPs for how to receive, handle and store seed for our customers. You can be sure that we have detailed, precautionary steps to ensure that your seed stays safe and viable at Speedling.

Ornamental

How do I place an order?
We accept most orders through our exceptional Broker reps, listed on our Broker page. Be sure to request Speedling plugs when you place your order! We also offer contract growing. Do you produce finish products?
We do produce finished potted products by contract only, which means these products are only available to our direct customers. If you are a direct customer, your sales representative will work with you to fill your needs, contact them today.

Where is your availability?
Our availability is updated Monday through Friday, and is available to download on our Ornamental page or at the top of this page. Email [email protected] today to be added to the daily list, and receive the availability directly!

EPS/HORT

What is EPS?
EPS stands for expanded polystyrene which are the small white beads we expand and form into trays and fish boxes. It is also the name of our manufacturing division that produces these trays and boxes.

What are the EPS hours of operation?
Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Can I pay by credit card? Yes! All major credit cards are accepted.

What are EPS shipping and receiving hours? Shipping and receiving hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Are there minimum order requirements for the EPS and Horticulture Division?
No! There are no minimum orders, you can order to fit your needs.

How much does freight cost?
Freight depends on many factors, and freight quotes are available upon request. Local deliveries are available! (Central Florida area)
